Checking a betting site without depositing: our 15-minute routine

Address, footer, sign-up form, cashier, bonus page, support chat: what you can learn before paying anything, and the lines a no-deposit check can never confirm.

You can learn most of what matters about a betting site before you deposit a single rupee. That is how we ran our protocol on 4rabet: an iPhone, an Indian IP, no deposit, and about fifteen minutes in all. The method works on any site, and it costs nothing but attention.

Here is the routine, step by step, with what each step showed us at 4rabet so you can see what a real result looks like.

Minutes 1 to 2: the address and the padlock

Read the full address in the browser bar, letter by letter. Offshore sites often run on mirror addresses, and in our check the 4rabet site loaded on a mirror whose address carried a number. That is common, which is why a mirror alone proves nothing either way: what matters is that you reached it from a source you trust, not from a link in a group chat.

Tap the padlock and look at the certificate. 4rabet's was valid until 16.12.2026. A missing or expired certificate is an instant stop.

Minutes 3 to 5: the footer

Scroll to the bottom. Look for a regulator, a licence number, a company name and links to the terms, privacy and responsible-gaming pages.

At 4rabet the footer text cited the Curaçao Gaming Commission and called the site a "legal bookmaker", yet printed no licence number and offered no validator to open. That is an offshore licence claim, not an Indian one, and "legal" is the operator's own word for it. The Terms link also led to the wrong page, and instead of a Privacy or Cookies link there was only one labelled Personal Data.

Minutes 6 to 8: the registration form, without submitting it

Open the sign-up form and read the fields. You learn what the site wants from you and in which currency it keeps your money.

4rabet's form asked for a +91 phone number, a password, a currency set to INR and an optional promo code, with a tick box for 18+ and the terms. Sign-in with Google was offered too. Nothing there asked for an Aadhaar number or bank details at sign-up, which is how it should be. A form that asks for card numbers or OTPs before you even have an account is a fail.

Minutes 9 to 11: the cashier and the withdrawal form

Some sites let you see the cashier before depositing; others show the methods on a help page. You want two lists: how money goes in and how it comes out. They are often different.

At 4rabet, money could go in by UPI, PhonePe, Paytm, Google Pay, icash.one or crypto, but could come out only by IMPS or crypto. That gap matters: a reader who deposits by UPI should know before paying that the return trip is an IMPS transfer to a bank account. The minimum and maximum per method appeared only after choosing a method, so note them for the one you plan to use.

Minutes 12 to 14: the bonus page and the rules

Read the bonus terms for four numbers: the wagering multiplier, what it applies to, the eligible games and the time limit. Then check for a maximum withdrawal from bonus winnings.

4rabet's welcome pack showed x20 on the bonus amount only, crash games only, 7 days from each deposit, and a cap on withdrawal equal to the bonus. Put ₹1,000 of bonus through that and the bets required come to ₹20,000. In the general T&C, use "Find in page" for withdrawal times, KYC documents and fees, and note anything the rules leave blank.

Minute 15: the support widget

Open the chat without logging in. Note the hours, the language and whether help articles exist. Look for an e-mail address in the rules that uses the site's own domain.

4rabet's widget said support was available 24/7, with an English interface and articles such as "Deposit not credited" and "Verification Process". The T&C listed a support e-mail on the operator's own domain. A line in the widget promised replies within a few minutes; we did not time it, so we report that as the site's claim, not our finding.

What a no-deposit check cannot tell you

Fifteen minutes on the outside of a site leaves real gaps, and we keep them on the sheet as "not tested":

  • whether withdrawals arrive within the time the rules promise;
  • how the KYC review actually goes and how long it takes;
  • how support handles a real dispute;
  • whether the account tools match the written policy.

That last one surprised us at 4rabet. The Responsible Gaming Policy describes cooling-off and self-exclusion, but the profile we saw had no responsible-gambling section at all, and nowhere did the rules mention a deposit limit.

Turning the check into a decision

Mark each step as pass, warning, fail or not tested. A fail on the address, the certificate or the registration form ends the check. Warnings on licence and rules mean keep any first deposit to the minimum and request the smallest allowed withdrawal before playing more. Our own sheet for 4rabet ended at 5.8 out of 10: a strong cashier, a weak licence line, and a bonus that pays out at most its own size.

No one here is a lawyer, so check the rules that cover you yourself. This routine helps you judge risk; it does not make any site safe. Written for readers aged 18 and over.
